The Undersea Hunter Group has called Costa Rica “home” since 1990. From our inception, we have specialized in diving expeditions on board our adventure and research vessels. With full global reach and the addition in 2008 of the DeepSee submersible and her mothership Argo, this vision has been extended to the deep ocean environment and continues to encompass film as well as numerous scientific missions.
The company began by facilitating regular voyages to remote Cocos Island, located some 300 nautical miles off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Adventure diving is our mainstay. At the same time our complementary goal continues to be the support of major underwater film projects, with the ultimate aim of bringing producers and film production teams to the most remote and isolated areas of the hydrosphere.
Founders Avi Klapfer, Orly Klapfer and Yosy Naaman have extensive experience at sea, in science and in industry. Between them, they are notable as explorers, biologists, dive masters, military sea captains, vessel and equipment designers and underwater film and art photographers.
This accolade is from the distinguished scientist Dr. Sylvia Earle, Explorer-in-Residence at the National Geographic Society:
“The Undersea Hunter team provided an experience that is unparalleled in the world, a rare combination of competence, professionalism, and sheer underwater poetry that will haunt anyone who comes aboard for the rest of their lives.”
